Sultan-Saadat is a composite architectural complex. It represents a range of mausoleums where prophet Muhammed’s descendant were buried. They were representatives of dynasty of Termez’s Sayyids. They had a high authority with Muslim community. Complex started forming from mausoleum of Sufi Sheikh Khasan al’ Emir, who was a founder of Termez’s Sayyids dynasty, since IX century. His mausoleum is the oldest construction and occupies the western part of the complex. Internal walls are decorated by sophisticated brick ornament.
Complex represents a seventy meters long enclosed courtyard, stretched from west to east. The entrance is located in the eastern side. There are ranges of portals on the both sides of the yard. Te majority of mausoleum was built up in XV-XVII centuries. Only half of constructions of that time have survived till present time. The building material was a burnt brick.
The latest constructions, dated back to XVII-XVIII centuries, are situated in the south-east and western façade of southern buildings group.
The complex consists of mausoleums and worship constructions (khanakah and mosque) which were built in XV century. Scientists suppose the khanakah used to be a kitchen for pilgrims approximately in XIX century.
Sultan- Saadat is translated from Arabic as “Sayyid’s tenement”. This complex is one of the most important worship places in Surkhandarya region.
