1. State Museum of Timurids history 1, Amir Timur av. Tel: (+998 71) 232 02 13; 232 01 12 Work hours: 10.00 - 17.00 Day off: Monday Museum’s establishment on October 18 in 1966 was dedicated to 660 anniversary of Amir Timur, the Great Commander of XIV century. Museum offers its visitors to familiarize with interesting exhibits belong to epoch of Timur’s ruling and his dynasty.
2. Museum of applied art of Uzbekistan 15, Rakatbashi str. Tel:(+998 71) 256 39 43; 256 39 33 Open daily: 09.00 - 18.00
The museum was established in 1937 at the place of former residence of Russian diplomat A. Polovtsev, on the base of temporary exhibition of arts and crafts. Museum host over 4 thousand exhibits representing a rich history of applied art of Uzbekistan.

One of the oldest museums of the country has a rich collection of different exhibits which reflect a centuries-old history of Uzbekistan. Archeological finds will tell about rich history and culture of people during 3000 thousand years. 4. State museum of Art of Uzbekistan 16, Amir Timur av. The museum was created in 1918 as Museum of National University. It operates as Museum of art of Uzbekistan since 1935. Unique exhibition of paintings of European and Russian artists, and other masterpieces of art collected by Duke Nikolay Romanov form the basis of the museum.
5. Museum of Geology 4, Furkat str. Tel : (+998 71) 245 15 51 Work hours: 10.00 -17.00 Day off: Saturday and Sunday The museum was opened in 1988. There are numbers of geological specimens from bowels of the Central Asian earth, provided by geological organizations and institutions, exhibited here. All samples are result of 75 years long work of geological services of Uzbekistan.
6. Museum of cinema art 98, Uzbekistanskaya av. Tel: (+998 71) 245 89 76 Work hours: 09.00-18.00 Day off: Saturday and Sunday Museum of cinema appeared in 70ss. Its archive counts over 30 thousand units. A unique exposition reflects a distinctive character, culture and development of cinema art in Uzbekistan.
7. Museum of Olympic Glory 4-A, Sh. Rashidov av. Tel: (+998 71) 241 44 20 Work hours: 09.30-17.00 Day off: Sunday
Museum of Olympic glory was created on August 14, 1996 and officially opened on September 1in 1996. Museum occupies the space of 2121 sq.meters. The exposition represents outstanding achievements of uzbek sportsmen. There are medals, cups, memorable coins, torches, souvenirs and paintings, as well as publications which will tell about history of Olympic, Asian games and World championships.
8. Museum of repressive measures victim memory Amir Timur av. Tel: (+998 71) 212 42 46; 212 36 85 Work hours: 09.00-17.00 Day off: Sunday
Museum was established on August 31 in 2002. The exposition contains materials and documents of period of political repressions. Exhibits have kept information about fates of those who laid down their lives for independence of the country and motherland. There are famous people of art, political figures, poets and others.
9. Museum of Tamara Khanum 1/41, Tamara Khanum str. Tel: (+ 998 71) 267 86 90 Work hours: 09.00-18.00 Day off: Sunday
Museum of Tamara Khanum, founder of Uzbke dancing art, keeps memory of her life and work. Museum was opened in 1994. Visitors will admire with theatrical dresses, watch a collection of pictures and find unique unpublished memoir and poetry of Tamara Khanum.
10. Museum of railway techniques 6, Turkestanskaya str. Tel: (+998 71) 299 70 40; 299 72 77 Work hours: 09:00 - 18:00 Break: 13:00 - 14:00 Day off: Monday
The museum was established on August 4, 1989, and dedicated to 100 anniversary of Uzbek rail way. The exposition represents 13 locomotives, 18 diesel locomotives, 3 electric locomotives, several wagons and samples of building repair techniques of past century. Wagon museum will tell its visitors about history and development of rail way in Uzbekistan.
11. Historical museum of electronic television of B. Grabovski 63, Sputnik-9, Sergeli distr. Тел: (+998 71) 258 38 69; 255 38 28 Work hours daily: 09.00-17.00 1928, B. Grabovski and I. Belyanski, staff members of the first Central Asian University, announced to the world community about their invention – “telephot”- apparatus translating visual images. To prove the work of the system of electronic television scientists provided image of moving Tashkent’s tram on July 26 and August 4 in 1928. The fact of scientific discovery was disputed and finally confirmed by scientific institutions and recognized by UNESCO. Nowadays, the Museum, which bears a name of famous scientist Boris Grabovski, keeps a true history of creation of an electronic television.
12. Museum of literature of Alisher Navoi 69, Navoi av. Tel: (+998 71) 241 01 34; 241 02 75; 244 00 61 Work hours: 09-00-17-00 Day off: Sunday
Literary heritage of outstanding scholars, poets, writers and scientists of the East became and intellectual base of the Museum of Literature named after Alisher Navoi. The museum operates as separate scientific educational institution of Academy of Science of the Republic of Uzbekistan since July 1, 1991.
13. Museum of Metropolitan 100, Hatirchinskaya str. Tel: (+998 71) 245 79 67 Work hours: 09.30-17.00 Day off: Sunday
The building of the first metropolitan in Central Asia was started in 1968—1970ss. The first underground line was 12, 2 km long, had 9 stations and was placed in operation in 1977. Presently, the total length of 3 operating lines is 49 kilometers. The distinctive feature of each of 29 operating stations is unique design and decoration. Museum’s exposition offers full history of creation and development of Tashkent’s metropolitan..
14. Museum of Nature 1, Karakamishskaya str. Tel: (+998 71) 246 95 31 Work hours: 09.30-17.00 Day off: Sunday
Uzbekistan State Museum of Nature was established on July 12 in 1876. Being one of the oldest scientific and educational institutions, the museum has collected unique samples representing a rich world of flora and fauna of Central Asian region.
Museums has 4 departments: • Fauna and flora; • Geological and geographical dept.; • Scientific educational; • department of foundations.
15. Museum of Sergey Esenin 20, Tolstoy str. Тел: (+998 71) 237 11 79 Work hours: 09.00-17.00 Day off: Sunday
Museum of Sergey Esenin represents private collection of admirers of outstanding Russian poet. The museum was established in 1981 and became a center of Russian poetry in Tashkent. There are poet’s authentic autographs and rare poetic publications of 20s of XX century among exhibits. |
