Turki-Jandi Set to Be Renovated
Restoration of the architectural ensemble gets started in Bukhoro

Restoration works at the unique architectural ensemble of the 15-16th century Turki-Jandi has been started in one of the most ancient cities of the world Bukhoro.
The project provides restoration and renewal of s single whole architectural complex, including the mausoleum of the renowned theologian Turki-Jandi, mosques, madrasah and graveyards. Estimated cost of the works is 134 million soums, all means will be taken from the state budget.
In March of this year the Uzbek government approved the state program on research, preservation and restoration of objects of cultural heritage of Bukhoro. The program is meant up to 2020. It provides the organization of complex scientific-cultural researches of objects of Bukhoro’s cultural heritage. Within the program it is planned to recreate and significant historical-cultural and architectural monuments and other elements of Bukhoro.
The separate item of the document targets the expansion of cultural infrastructure, popularization and propagation of historical-architectural, social-cultural and tourist potentials of the ancient city. Financing of the planned actions will be carried out in equal shares at the expense of the state budget and additional incomes of the budget of Bukhoro region, including means of sponsors. 3,18 bln. soums were used in 2008-2009 for the works on research, preservation, restoration and beautification of the town within the actions for preservation of objects of cultural heritage of Bukhoro.
In 1993 the historical part of Bukhoro was included to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
